We didn't have a 5 year reunion, so there's no precedent here. Two of my girlfriends are doing "jeans and jewels" with high heels, but I don't think I'm trendy enough to pull that off. My other girlfriend is doing nice work-like clothes, but I don't have much of a work wardrobe to pull from.

| My wardrobe runs along these lines. These aren't my clothes, because that would mean I'd actually accessorize or do stylish things like that. |
I imagine most people will be somewhere along the spectrum of jeans to nice skirt. (Which is a pity because I have a little black dress that I found on clearance at Target that I would love to wear!) So I'm thinking skirt. But what kind of skirt? And what kind of top? And should I actually consider donning some sort of jewelry for once?!
I totally should have planned ahead and splurged for a personal shopping consultation, but it's too late now. I am limited to what I can find in my closet or perhaps at the mall. (Any good sales going on right now?) So I'm turning to you in a desperate plea for advice. What should I wear to my class reunion? What do you wear to your reunions?

Our class reunion was in June, and I wore a summery dress that I haven't been able to wear recently because it is not breastfeeding friendly! Unfortunately, I have very little style sense, so I have no other advice for you. Good luck, and hope you have fun!
ReplyDeleteI would go a nice dress along the lines of what you wore for Miriam's baptism, and yes I think a reunion merits earrings and a simple necklace depending on the neckline of whatever you are wearing.
ReplyDeleteHave a good time!
Wow... I have no experience with class reunions (yet)!
ReplyDeleteI suppose it depends on the location of the event(s). If its at a nice country club or restaurant then definitely the dress, Church clothes or skirt and top. If its more casual you can definitely go with [dark] jeans and a cute top & shoes; you don't have to go crazy with accessories if you're not into that.
Did they give you any guidance on dress? Christian's 20-year was late in August (yes, I guess I am ten years older than you! LOL) and they said dressy casual, which I found confusing. What that meant was "dress however you darned well please." We had people in jeans and people in uh, well, dresses that didn't flatter figures, but nothing overtly formal. Does that help? (I agonized a bit, but not that much b/c I was pregnant, so you know...maternity clothes a must!)
ReplyDeletest. james and john - the sons of thunder :)
ReplyDeletealso, this just makes me more glad i skipped my reunion!
Totally accessorize! I mean with something fun and stylish that you may never wear again. You can be very basic with your outfit -- something comfortable and cute that you see yourself able to wear frequently -- but it's the accesories that I always notice as really making a woman look both interesting and stylish.
ReplyDeleteFunny that I never accesorize...;)
